Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gorkha Calendar (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our Nepali (Bikram Sambat) calendar application on Android.
1. Overview
Gorkha Calendar is designed to show Nepali calendar dates, tithi, festivals, market information, local reminders, and optional Google Calendar events. We aim to collect only what is needed to provide these features.
2. Information we process
- App content and preferences stored on your device — calendar cache, reminder/alarm data, notification settings, localization preferences, and home-screen widget data.
- Optional Google account data — if you choose to connect Google Calendar, the App requests read-only access to your Google Calendar events (including titles, times, descriptions, and Meet links when available). This is used only to display events in the App. You can disconnect at any time from More → Google Calendar.
- Notifications — with your permission, the App may show a date notification and schedule local reminder notifications on your device.
- Network requests — the App downloads calendar and related content from our backend services and Firebase/Firestore (for example calendar data and optional in-app update information).
- Device / app technical data — standard platform information needed for app updates, notifications, and Google Sign-In (such as app version and device identifiers used by Google or Firebase SDKs).
3. Information we do not collect
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your Google Calendar data for advertising.
- We do not require an app account to use core calendar features.
- Local reminders you create are stored on your device and are not uploaded to Google Calendar by the App.
4. How we use information
- Display Nepali calendar, tithi, festivals, and related content
- Show market / forex information where available
- Schedule and display local reminders and date notifications
- Import and display Google Calendar events when you connect
- Keep the App updated and functioning reliably
5. Third-party services
Depending on features you use, the App may interact with:
- Google Sign-In / Google Calendar API — for optional calendar import. Google’s handling of your data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Firebase / Google Cloud (Firestore) — used to deliver calendar-related content and app update information.
- Our API servers — used to fetch calendar/market related data needed by the App.
6. Permissions
The App may request notification permission (and related Android alarm/notification settings) so reminders and the date notification can work. Google Calendar access is requested only if you choose to connect your Google account.
7. Data retention and deletion
- Local reminders, preferences, and cached calendar data remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Disconnecting Google Calendar stops further import of Google events in the App. You can also revoke app access from your Google Account permissions page.
- Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data from your device.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is a general-audience calendar utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect information processed by the App. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised policy.
